Nine of us will be heading off to Brazil in two weeks. Why? Simply love. Love of missions, love of sharing Jesus with Brazilians and love for our missionary, Andrew Comings and his family who serve there.

Taken from 2 Corinthians 5:14 “For the love of Christ compels us,” Simply Love, is the theme for our team. We will seek to let the love of Christ, which has changed us, compel us to love others. In this case, it just happens to be part way around the world.

Our team departs Friday, June 28th for Sao Luis, Brazil. A coastal city, originally founded by the French, is the home city of Andrew’s wife Itacyara and where the couple has been led to plant a church.

Our ministry begins almost as soon as we hit the ground in Sao Luis. Pastor Hurlbut will conduct a marriage conference Saturday evening, the 29th. The whole team will participate in church services Sunday, the 30th and Sunday July 7th. From there a variety of ministries await us from machete wielding brush clearing at a camp property, soccer ball evangelism, Child Evangelism Fellowship event, to hosting an English as a Second Language camp on July 4th.

Here are a few pictures of the facility donated to our team in Sao Luis for the 4th of July outreach:

We appreciate your prayers for energy, boldness and effectiveness. We simply want to show and share the love of Christ for 10 days with Brazilians and to our missionary.
