Welcome to Parent Connect!
We lead off with some thoughts from a friend of the Hurlbut family, September McCarthy. September writes a blog pertaining in large part to motherhood. September is also releasing her first ebook “Hula Hoop Girl” October 1st and the following from her blog is a “window into the heart of the book” according to September. |When Something Has To Give My ears perk up when I hear women mutter the words, “I cannot do this anymore.” My empathetic heart desires to come alongside them and tell them that “this,” doesn’t have to be such drudgery and exhaustion.
I know. I have walked through the seasons of exhaustion and defeat, and know the root of thoughts like – “How am I to keep everything going?” Those thoughts lead to defeat, depression, exhaustion and turmoil within the heart.
Do you feel at the mercy of your schedule? I did. There were so many days when my heart would beat to a different rhythm that my day had planned for me. When was life going to slow down a little? Would I ever be able to swim into the current of my own passions and desires, rather than feeling like I was swimming upstream–against it all?
Women are dealing with this inward struggle, and no one knows. Our health is affected, and we seem to grasp for an identity in our circumstances, rather than the truth of who we really are, and what we were created for.
Parent Night is this Sunday for Patch the Pirate Club! We encourage mom’s, dad’s grandma’s, grandpa’s to join us for Club at 5:30pm.
One of the goals of Parent Connect is to encourage parents to engage their children with what they are learning at church. Here are pdf files of this week’s take home papers. Print these off then spend some time discussing the Bible and spiritual matters with your kids!
