The Bible is a book of generations. From beginning to end God revealed His redemptive plan to one generation after another. In turn, He commanded those generations and every generation since to communicate His truth to the next generation. 2 Timothy states, “And the things you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
Our desire at Grace is to invest in the next generation. This does not mean we will ignore an older generation or a current one but we understand that what will carry truth to the future will be the next one. In that spirit, we had what we called Next Generation Sunday this past weekend.
Our morning service featured a 25 year old church planter named Dan Nichols. Dan, a graduate of Baptist Bible Seminary, has a vision for a church planting movement in the Wilkes-Barre, PA area. He is currently putting together a team of young adults to reach the city of Wilkes-Barre with the gospel of Jesus Christ. How great is that? A group of twenty year old’s passionate about reaching people and planting churches! (To learn more about this ministry click here.)
In the evening service our own teens ministered through instrumental pieces, choral music, worship leading, and testimonies. (Pictures below) Hearing teens open up their Bible and share what God is doing in their lives was a tremendous blessing. God has been good to give us a “next generation” to invest in and we will continue to do so!
