Touching Base With Pastor Shirk

It was “Big Ears Baptist Church.” Figuratively speaking. Wednesday evening we met for our third time with a twist to our regular service. The focus is worship. The means are God ordained and timeless – praise, prayer and the Word in our midst.

Music fed our souls on the greatness of God. Testimonies freighted with raw emotion, heartfelt gratitude, tears, joy, exhaustion, laughter – all came together in an hour that went by too quickly. It was an assembly of spiritual people who have ears toward the Word and together encouraged one another in how Scripture is enlightening our eyes and illuminating our paths like the poem says, “…as a friend by my side.” Nothing flashy, nothing fancy, no all-stars. Just normal people loving God.

I loved it and can’t wait till we do it next month. Hope you’re there too.
