Welcome to day 27 of our 40 day devotional of praise and testimony!
Proverbs 13:10 “By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.”
I was proud of myself. I was independent. I went to college, got a wonderful job that could support my family. My husband made a living that would sustain us, but there were no extras. I wanted more. The more material things we collected, the happier I thought we were. As the years went by, my relationships at work were strained. My friendships were fading and the job that I loved the most was not fulfilling. I was empty. The Lord first brought Tori then Kari Shirk into my life. It wasn’t any one thing they did or any one thing they said. Their demeanor was very different from the typical teenagers that had come my way. The Lord was trying to give me gentle nudges to move toward him. My Pride kept getting in the way. The Lord finally stopped giving me gentle nudges, everything came apart. It seemed like every single aspect of my life was out of control. I didn’t know whom to turn to. Then I remembered Tori & Kari gently telling me about Grace Baptist Church. I made the call to Pastor Shirk. After several sessions with Pastor, I realized that I desperately needed the Lord. The Lord used children to bring his word to me. Proverbs 13:10 “By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.” I was raised in a religion that did not teach me about the Bible. I started a “Fruit of the Spirit” Bible study with Gayle Waldron. That first Bible study made me realize the Loving Lord that I missed and needed. I often refer to Galatians 5:22, 23 “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Now I know that our precious Lord is with me every day and every minute of every day and spending time with the Word of the Lord will bring me strength. 2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of out Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to Him be the glory both now and forever.”
