Welcome to day 21 of our 40 day devotional of praise and testimonies!
Ecclesiastes 1:9, 3:14 “That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.” As of late in my Old Testament Bible reading, I’ve been reminded of a few “well knowns” in my life. 1. There is nothing new under the sun especially when it comes to people and living. 2. A line in an old well known hymn, “prone to wander, Lord, I feel it- prone to leave the God I love.” 3. God’s absolute holiness, yet His continued demonstration of grace and mercy. I’ve been reminded of God’s incredible & perfect holiness when I’ve read through the details of instructions for worship and sacrifice in Leviticus. And then all through the Old Testament of how Israel repeatedly griped and complained and wandered off from their God. The God who called them out and delivered them from bondage and gave them all they needed. The nothing new part – how often do we as Christians repeat all the same sins, same complaining and wandering off and leave the God we love? The up-side of realization of short-comings in our walk is that in God’s gracious love; He continues to bring us back to Himself, just like He did Israel and deliver us from the bondage of sin. He never quits. Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ.”
