Day 16 “Give Me Eyes To See” Giving My Heart To Jesus

Welcome to day 16 of our 40 devotional of praise and testimony!

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I started coming to Grace Baptist Church in the Fall of 1955 when Pastor Hurne was the Pastor. My sister, Arlene, had started going to the youth group and attended a youth event in New York City. She started to tell me about it and so I started going to church with her. We lived out at the end of Judge Road and didn’t drive, so we didn’t have a way to get to church. A couple by the name of Ed and Betty Graham would come to pick us up along with several other teenagers that lived out that way so that we could attend church. Sometimes there were 14 or so of us crammed into their station wagon. One of the other teens was Gayle Waldron. I’ll never forget that time and was very grateful to the Grahams for their willingness to pick us up. On March 5, 1956, during the evening service, an invitation was given to come forward if you wanted to accept Jesus as your personal Savior. I went forward and Mrs. Madill took me in a Sunday school room, opened up the Bible and showed me the way to Christ. It was that night that I gave my heart to the Lord. I was 17 years old at the time. I have been coming to Grace Baptist for a long time and have seen many changes. I have also endured many difficulties throughout my life and I am comforted by Phillipians 4:3 which reminds me that I can do all things through Christ because He gives me the strength.
